Explosion-Proof

Designed to meet stringent requirements, the US National Electrical Code (NEC) Article 500/501 Explosion-Proof designator indicates a higher level of manufacturing to protect areas where the potential for gases or dust to explode exist in normal conditions (UL Class 1, Division 1).  These products also meet less stringent requirements for hazardous location areas, such as UL Class 1, Division 2.
